September marks the start of Spring in Australia however no one told Wakefield Park with temperatures remaining at single figures for all of Saturday and Sunday not faring much better, tyre temperature would be key in doing well.

All three races would be run in a day event. the first race due to start late Saturday morning two warm up laps would be organized due to the cold, however some of the field must have not received the memo. As the cars came around after one warmup lap the field formed a starting formation and some drivers jumped as the cars crossed the line only to realise that the rest of the grid maintained the slower pace, it was very messy.

Once the cars officially, started Kenny wasted no time claiming the lead and building a small gap to Barlow. The experienced Peter Paddon arrived at turn two and somehow did not make the corner, his car slowly travelled through the gravel trap and rejoined the race a long way behind. Stephen Champion also hit trouble at the same time, his car spun and was facing the wrong way coming out of turn two. During the opening lap Barlow and Alex Kenny swapped the lead twice, Kenny eventually used his superior power to claim the lead on the straight and proceeded to pull away.

Greg Kenny spun his car just after corner five coming down the hill, he proceeded backwards on the damp grass until the car came to a stop against the marshall tyre wall. The impact was not at high speed but it was enough to damage the rear wing, this was to be his first DNF in the Supersport series. The race stabilised for the leaders with Alex Kenny comfortable in front of Barlow who in turn had a healthy lead to Neilson. A great midpack dice of five cars formed between Chris Perini, Chris Sutton, Clare, Peter Hills and John Beck, these cars would battle for the remainder of the race. In the end Alex Kenny won from Barlow and Neilsen.

The start of the second race was similar to the first, Alex Kenny made a great jump from Barlow and Neilsen. And like the previous race Champion also spun in the same spot, this time he stalled the car. As the field powered away the striken Champion sat at turn two with his started motor whining away to no avail, the race official had no choice but to bring out the safety car.

It took a few laps to remove Champions car (he returned to the pits and eventually rejoined the race) and once the race restarted Alex Kenny continued his march forward with Barlow in hot pursuit. The five car dice that occurred in the first race continued on with drivers swapping positions as the race evolved. One of the dicing cars was Sutton, unfortunately he coasted to a halt on the way up the hill to register a DNF. In the end Alex Kenny came home 1st, Barlow was 2nd and Neilsen arrived home 3rd.

Race 3 was held in dark gloomy conditions and Alex Kenny made a briiliant start leading the pack once again, this time Barlow seemed to match Kenny for speed and the two comfotably pulled away from the pursuing field. Paddon was putting plenty of pressure on Neilsen for third position. At the rear of the grid Ivan Srejber in the PRB was keeping the more fancied radical of Champion behind for a few laps, eventually Champion made it past the slower PRB.

Barlow was matching Kenny for speed and set the fasted lap of the race in his chase for the lead. Kenny’s car looked spectacular in the darkening condition with long flame outs from his exhasust at various parts of the track. In the end Kenny kept his nerve and came home 1st to make it a clean sweep, Barlow bagged a handful of points finishing 2nd while Neilsen made it three podiums in a row with a 3rd.
